WHAT IS FSSAI (FOOD) LICENCE ?

FSSAI (Food) License is one of the mandatory License to carry on the food business in India.

 

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Ministry of Family Health & Welfare, Government of India regulates the Food Business in India.
 

FSSAI provides 14-digit License or Registration Number.                       Logo & license Number shall be mandatorily displayed on the label of product package.

 

The validity of food License can be of one year to five years.  Every FBO needs to comply with the conditions of License with which the license is granted.  The license holder must display the copy of the license at the prominent place of premises where the activities related to food business is being carried out & Inform authorities every changes or modification in the activities.

TYPE Of FSSAI REGISTRATION / LICENSES

FSSAI Registration

The FSSAI Registration is mandatory for small FBO having turnover below  12 Lakhs per annum and production capacity up to 100 Kg/Liter Per day.

 

The FSSAI Registration is suitable for small retailer, hawker, home based manufacturing.

FSSAI Registration will not allow FBO to make production on large scale. If the production Capacity exceed from above mentioned limit FBO has to make application for State / Central License.

FSSAI State License 

The FSSAI State License is mandatory for FBO having turnover above  12 Lakhs & up to  20 Crore & production capacity above 100 Kg/Liter Per day & up to 2 MT per day.

 

The FSSAI State License is suitable for retailer, wholesaler, Restaurant, Hotel, Distributor Manufacturing Re-packer, Storage, Transport etc.

FSSAI Central License 

The FSSAI Central License is mandatory for FBO having turnover above  20 Crore & production capacity 2 MT per day or Import or Export of Food Products.

 

In case an FBO is operating in more than two states, it has to obtain one additional central License for the Head Office/ Registered Office and separate state / central license for each location.

The FSSAI Central License is suitable for Importer or Exporter, wholesaler, super stockist, Big Manufacturing Re-packer etc.

Blueprint/layout plan of the processing unit showing the dimensions in metres/square metres

and operation-wise area allocation (mandatory for manufacturing and processing units only).

Production Unit Photos (mandatory for manufacturing and processing units, Restaurant & Storage

only)

List of Directors with full address and contact details (mandatory for companies only).

 

Name and List of Equipment and Machinery along with their number, installed capacity and horse power used (mandatory for manufacturing and processing units only).


PAN Card & Aadhar Card of Proprietor / Partner / Director(s) / Authorized Signatory.

List of food Products to be manufactured. (In case of manufacturers).


Water Analysis report (Chemical & Bacteriological) if used as ingredient in food from NABL or Govt authorised laboratory to confirm the portability.  (mandatory only for manufacturing and processing units only).

Address Proof: Rent agreement / Consent Letter / Electricity bill / 7/12 Utara, Property Tax Receipt.

Partnership Deed MOA & AOA PAN Card of Company or Firm.


Copy of certificate obtained under Co-Op Act – 1861 or Multi State Co-Op Act – 2002 in case of Co-Operatives. 

Food Safety Management System plan (FSMS) or certificate (if any).

NOCs from Municipality or local body.


Import Export Code (IEC) for Import or Export of Food Products.

Supporting document proof for turnover (Last Year Balance Sheet, IT Return).


Form IX Nomination of persons by a company along with the board resolution.
 
Declaration form.


NOC from manufacturer (mandatory for Re-labellers and Re-packers).

Source of milk or procurement plan for milk including location of milk collection centre’s etc. in case of Milk and Milk Products processing units. 


Pesticide residues report of water from NABL or Govt authorised laboratory in case of units manufacturing packaged drinking water, packaged Mineral water, carbonated water from a recognized/ public health laboratory.

Rs. 100 Per Year

RS.2000 per year for Retailer, Wholesaler, Distributor, Marketer, Caterer Transporter, Restaurants, Hotels, Storage etc.

&

Rs. 3000 up to 1 Metric Ton (MT) for Manufacturing Processing, Repacking, Relabeling.

&

Rs. 5000 above 1 MT & up to 2 Metric Ton (MT) for Manufacturing Processing, Repacking, Relabeling.

Rs. 7500 Per Year
